It’s been a long time since I’ve had the opportunity to host my own party. If you’ve ever heard the old saying, “always the bridesmaid and never the bride” ….that’s exactly how it feels. I’m always the one making things perfect for my customers.
This past weekend; however, I had the incredibly fun experience of putting together a Bon Voyage Party for one of our employees who has been with our store for 3 years. I decided about two weeks ago to throw the party. I posted flyers around the store. And, I began my planning at about 10pm on Friday night. The party was Sunday at 4.
Considering the time constraints, I think I did quite well.
Here are a few of the things that made the party so fun!
To make the inside of the house look festive…..we put beach towels over all of our furniture. (This also covered up the cat hair!)
We had fun with the treats. Along with the traditional pretzels, chips, dips, veggie and fruit trays….we also made sure to have Chips AHOY (get it?) cookies and Swedish fish.
I affectionately called these “POOL PUFFS.” The pool puffs added some brightness to the pool and they served a second function (you will see soon!)
We also had sea creatures in the pool. They floated all over the pool and it was quite mesmerizing to look at!
A custom centerpiece was created for Kaitlyn. We did this using our vinyl cutter. Look closely and you will also see Lifesavers on the design!
Another balloon design for her party was our popular 3 foot latex balloon. There was a Lifesaver on this balloon as well….and there were Lifesavers on the ribbon going all the way down to the weight. Even though the balloon was equipped with lots of “Lifesavers,” it didn’t fare well when a gust of wind took it into the air and into one of the Tiki Torches. “BOOM!” Our 3 foot balloon was GONE!
Here’s our Pool Puffs! The pool puffs were a lot of fun for the children. Believe it or not, there wasn’t a single pop!
When the sun went down….the balloon lights began to glow! This technique is so simple…..we just put a blinky balloon light into 5 and 11 inch balloons. We sell these balloon lights on our website (www.itsmypartyballoons.com) for only $.99.
Using the same blinky lights, we made a path to the front driveway. Then, everyone took home a blinky light on a stick as a party favor. Adults are just as guilty as children when it comes to holding blinking things!
Hope you enjoyed our party! If you are planning a party of your own, we are happy to help. We serve Northwest Indiana and the Chicagoland Area. Call us at 219-322-7777. See more of our work at http://www.balloonsatitsmyparty.com.
